Delaware – A brisk northwest wind is cutting through downtown Wilmington this morning, and the Christina River waterfront looks sharply cold under bright skies. Temperatures started near 27°F, and even now hover in the low 30s with gusts pushing past 25 mph.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, highs reach about 35°F today with northwest winds between 10 and 15 mph, gusting up to 25 mph. Skies stay partly sunny, but once the sun lowers, readings fall quickly. Tonight drops to around 21°F.
That creates a flash-freeze setup. Any moisture from melting frost or runoff can refreeze after sunset. Watch for slick stretches on I-95, Route 1, and elevated ramps heading into Pennsylvania. Bridges cool faster than surface roads.
Friday brings full sunshine and a high near 36°F. Friday night turns mostly clear with lows around 23°F. Valentine’s Day Saturday looks bright and milder, with highs climbing to 45°F. It will feel noticeably better for evening plans, though the air remains crisp after dark.
Sunday turns unsettled. Clouds increase, and a 40% chance of rain develops after early afternoon. Highs reach near 43°F. By Sunday night, rain chances rise to 50% with lows around 32°F. If temperatures dip close to freezing, a brief mix cannot be ruled out near the Delaware–Pennsylvania line.
Looking ahead, NOAA’s 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across the Mid-Atlantic. Highs may push into the upper 40s to near 50°F by Tuesday and midweek as a broader U.S. warmup unfolds.
