Wilmington, Ohio – Cooler temperatures Thursday will give way to a steady warming trend into the weekend.
According to the US National Weather Service in Wilmington, temperatures today will remain similar to Wednesday, marking the coolest conditions for the foreseeable future. Highs across central and southwest Ohio are expected in the 30s to low 40s before readings begin climbing Friday.
By Friday and through the weekend, highs are forecast to rise into the upper 40s and 50s across cities including Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and Springfield. Early next week, some locations could approach or exceed 60 degrees.
The 8- to 14-day outlook from the National Weather Service indicates a strong probability of above-normal temperatures across much of Ohio and the eastern United States through the latter part of February.
Major corridors including Interstate 71, Interstate 70 and Interstate 75 are expected to remain dry, supporting favorable travel conditions as temperatures moderate. Gradual snowmelt may occur where snow cover remains.
Forecasters emphasized that while today remains cool, a sustained pattern shift toward milder conditions is expected beginning Friday and extending beyond the upcoming week.
The warming trend may be especially noticeable for students, young workers and commuters traveling during afternoon hours as temperatures climb.
No weather advisories or warnings were in effect as of Thursday morning.
