South Bend, Indiana – A warming trend will push highs into the 50s across northern Indiana this weekend.

According to the US National Weather Service Northern Indiana, mainly dry conditions are expected through Sunday, with only a low chance of rain mainly south of US Route 30 late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

Friday highs are forecast in the 40 to 50 degree range, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-20s to around 30 degrees. By Saturday, temperatures are expected to climb between 40 and 52 degrees, followed by Sunday highs ranging from 43 to 54 degrees across the region.

The only measurable precipitation risk remains a 30 percent chance of rain south of US 30 late Saturday night, decreasing to around 20 percent early Sunday. Areas north of US 30, including South Bend, Elkhart and Goshen, are expected to remain dry.

Major roadways including Interstate 80/90, Interstate 69, Interstate 65 and Interstate 94 are expected to see dry pavement conditions through the weekend, reducing the likelihood of widespread travel disruptions.

Forecasters also noted the warming pattern will continue into early next week, bringing spring-like temperatures to much of northern Indiana.

The temperature rebound may be especially noticeable for students, young workers and weekend travelers planning activities across the region.

No advisories or warnings were in effect as of Wednesday morning.
