Boston, Massachusetts – Light snow showers may affect early travel across eastern Massachusetts Thursday morning.

According to the US National Weather Service Boston, scattered light snow showers are expected early Thursday, fueled by a weak inverted trough moving through the region. The agency noted that conditions will otherwise remain dry for the rest of the day and into Friday.

Morning commuters along Interstate 90, Interstate 93, Route 1 and Interstate 95 near Boston could encounter brief visibility reductions or minor untreated surface slick spots during the early hours. No significant accumulation was forecast, and widespread impacts are not expected.

Temperatures Thursday are projected to range between 30 and 35 degrees, slightly below seasonal averages. Friday will bring more sunshine, with highs between 31 and 36 degrees across eastern Massachusetts.

The National Weather Service emphasized that after the early snow showers move out, skies will gradually clear, leading to partly sunny conditions Thursday and sunnier weather Friday.

While impacts appear limited, early morning travelers are encouraged to allow extra time and remain alert for isolated slick spots, particularly on bridges and overpasses.

The temperature dip and early snow may be especially relevant for students, young workers and morning commuters traveling before mid-morning hours.

No advisories or warnings were in effect at the time of the update.
