Rockford, IL Weather Alert: 53 Degrees I-39 Friday

Chicago, IL – Above-normal temperatures will persist through mid-February, bringing highs into the 50s and near 60 degrees across northern Illinois.

According to the US National Weather Service Chicago, the mild weather pattern in place this week is expected to continue through much of next week. Forecast highs range from the mid-40s to upper 50s through the weekend, with temperatures potentially reaching around 60 degrees by next Wednesday.

Thursday’s forecast calls for highs between 34 and 42 degrees, with warmer inland areas reaching the upper 40s. By Friday, highs are expected between 46 and 53 degrees. Weekend temperatures are projected to range from 46 to 57 degrees across much of the region, including areas near Interstate 90, Interstate 94, Interstate 55, and Interstate 88 corridors.

Nighttime lows are forecast to remain in the 20s and 30s.

Forecasters indicate there is little to no chance of meaningful precipitation over the next week. Mainly dry conditions are expected, with no significant snow or ice events in sight for at least the next seven days.

The Climate Prediction Center outlook highlights a strong probability of above-normal temperatures through at least mid-next week.

The extended stretch of dry and mild weather may benefit commuters traveling along major interstates, while students and outdoor workers could see more manageable winter conditions compared to typical mid-February patterns.
