Chicago Ridge, IL: Road Closures After Train Derailment

Chicago Ridge, Illinois – Multiple roads in Chicago Ridge remain closed or restricted to local traffic following a train derailment Wednesday morning.

According to the Chicago Ridge Police Department, barricades are in place at several key intersections as crews work to clear the area and repair tracks.

The following locations are currently restricted:

  • 111th Street & Ridgeland Avenue – Northbound traffic
  • 107th Street & Ridgeland Avenue – Northbound traffic
  • Southwest Highway & Ridgeland Avenue – Southbound traffic
  • Southwest Highway right-turn lane – Southbound traffic
  • Central Avenue to Pleasant Avenue – Northbound traffic

Police said additional road closures may be in place in surrounding communities.

Delays are expected during rush hour traffic, and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes. The closures will remain in effect until further notice as track repairs continue.

Authorities previously confirmed no injuries and no hazardous materials were involved in the derailment. Metra service disruptions are expected to continue through at least Thursday.

Officials said updates will be provided as roads reopen and rail service resumes.
