Springfield, Illinois – Mild temperatures ranging from the mid-40s to near 60 degrees will continue across Central Illinois through the weekend, with slight precipitation chances along major corridors including I-55 and I-72.
According to the National Weather Service in Central Illinois, highs Thursday are expected to reach 45 to 51 degrees across much of the region. A slight chance of a rain and snow mix is possible Thursday, particularly north of I-72, though significant accumulation is not anticipated.
Friday temperatures are forecast to climb further, reaching 49 to 55 degrees under mostly dry conditions. By Saturday, highs between 51 and 56 degrees are expected along the I-57 and I-74 corridors, with rain chances increasing to around 30 percent, mainly south of I-72.
Forecasters indicate the best opportunity for rainfall arrives late Saturday into early Sunday, especially along and south of I-70. Sunday highs are projected between 53 and 58 degrees, with rain chances tapering later in the day.
Overnight lows through the period will generally range from the mid-20s to low 40s, potentially creating patchy slick spots during early morning hours where brief precipitation occurs.
By Monday, temperatures may reach 55 to 60 degrees across parts of Central Illinois, maintaining the above-average trend.
Commuters traveling on I-55 through Springfield, I-74 near Champaign, and I-57 toward Effingham should monitor forecasts for changing road conditions during any periods of light precipitation.
