La Crosse, Wisconsin – Temperatures will climb into the mid-50s along the I-90 corridor by Sunday as a steady warming trend develops across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, warmer temperatures are expected to build through the weekend and continue into early next week. After seasonably cool conditions midweek, highs will steadily rise each day.

Wednesday highs range from 30 to 43 degrees across western Wisconsin, southeast Minnesota, and northeast Iowa. Thursday temperatures increase into the upper 30s to mid-40s. By Friday, highs are forecast between 42 and 51 degrees, followed by 43 to 52 degrees Saturday.

Sunday is expected to be the warmest day of the stretch, with highs between 44 and 54 degrees, including areas along Interstate 90 from La Crosse to Winona and U.S. Highway 52 through Rochester and Decorah.

Overnight lows will generally fall into the 20s and lower 30s, which may allow for early morning refreezing on untreated surfaces.

Drivers along Interstate 90, U.S. Route 53 near Eau Claire, and Highway 52 in southeast Minnesota should encounter mainly dry pavement conditions through the period.

The warming trend will push temperatures well above average for mid-February, with continued moderation possible into next week.

Commuters, students, and outdoor workers may notice improving afternoon conditions compared to recent colder weather.
