Colorado wakes up to a cold 25-degree start across Pueblo and Colorado Springs, with wind chills in the teens and slick patches lingering on shaded sidewalks. The air feels crisp and dry now, but change is already lining up along the Continental Divide.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, isolated snow showers spread into the central mountains today. Accumulations remain light at lower elevations, but higher terrain along the Continental Divide could see 3 to 7 inches through early Thursday. Travel over Monarch Pass and other high routes may turn slushy at times.
Across Pueblo County, skies turn partly sunny with highs climbing to 58 degrees. That quick warm-up will help dry most roads by afternoon. Still, this is prime February freeze-thaw season. Any melted snow can refreeze quickly after sunset as lows dip near 32.
Thursday brings mostly sunny skies early, then a 20 percent chance of showers after late morning. Highs reach 59. Thursday night carries a 30 percent chance of showers before 11 p.m., with lows near 29.
Friday introduces a steadier 40 percent chance of showers, mainly after late morning. Highs settle near 52. Friday night remains unsettled with a 50 percent chance of showers before 11 p.m. Wet pavement could impact evening travel along I-25.
Valentine’s Weekend stays active. Saturday brings a slight chance of rain and snow before late morning, then gradual clearing with highs near 55. Sunday turns mostly sunny and warmer, near 60 degrees.
Looking ahead, Washington’s Birthday may approach the lower 60s, with above-average temperatures building across southern Colorado. A few rain or snow showers return by early next week, but widespread winter impacts appear limited outside the mountains.
