New Hampshire – The air bites as you step outside this morning, and any damp pavement has turned firm and slick in spots as temperatures hold at 27 degrees in Manchester.

A light breeze makes it feel closer to 20 degrees. Exhaust hangs in the air. Sidewalks crunch underfoot. Drivers along I-93 and I-293 should watch for shaded patches that stayed wet and refroze after yesterday’s melt.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures climb to around 38 degrees this afternoon as clouds increase. Northwest winds rise to 5 to 10 mph, with gusts near 25 mph. That breeze keeps wind chills in the 20s through midday.

Even without fresh snow, flash freezing remains a real concern in February. Melted snow can refreeze quickly when readings dip below 32 degrees. Bridge decks and untreated parking lots pose the greatest risk. Slow down and leave extra braking space.

Skies remain mostly cloudy tonight with lows near 19 degrees. Thursday turns brighter, with decreasing clouds and a high near 33. Clear skies Thursday night allow temperatures to plunge to around 12 degrees.

Sunshine dominates Friday with highs near 35. Valentine’s Weekend stays seasonable. Saturday reaches near 36 under partly sunny skies, followed by a mostly clear and cold night near 12 degrees. Sunday edges milder, with highs near 37.

Looking ahead into early next week, temperatures gradually trend upward. Highs push toward the upper 30s and lower 40s by Tuesday, signaling a slow late-winter thaw across southern New Hampshire.
