Grand Forks, ND – A quiet and mostly mild stretch of weather is expected across northeastern North Dakota this week, with only minor flurry activity reported near the Lake of the Woods region today.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, spotty flurries are possible today around Lake of the Woods, while the rest of the region remains dry with partial clearing. Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph may accompany the flurries, but forecasters report no travel concerns across the area.
Temperatures today will show a sharp gradient, with highs ranging from the low 20s near Lake of the Woods to the mid-30s farther south and east, including areas along US-75, US-2, and Interstate 29. This temperature contrast will remain a defining feature of the forecast through midweek.
On Wednesday, conditions turn partly to mostly sunny, with morning lows between 8 and 22 degrees and afternoon highs climbing into the upper 20s to low 40s. Southerly winds near 10 mph will help bring slightly warmer air into eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota.
By Thursday and Friday, mostly sunny skies continue, with high temperatures reaching the low to upper 40s in southeastern portions of the region. Morning lows will moderate into the upper teens and 20s, particularly along I-94 and southeast of Grand Forks.
The National Weather Service emphasizes that no hazardous weather or travel disruptions are expected through the weekend, making this one of the calmer periods the region has seen recently.
Commuters, students, and agricultural operators can expect stable conditions for daily travel, though colder air will linger longer near the international border.
Residents are encouraged to remain aware of localized temperature differences, especially when traveling north toward Lake of the Woods.
