New Mexico – Crisp morning air hangs over the Rio Grande Valley as sunlight quickly warms rooftops and roadways. By late morning, jackets come off and February feels surprisingly mild across Albuquerque.

According to the National Weather Service, highs climb near 67 degrees today, well above seasonal norms. Skies stay sunny, winds remain light, and travel along I-25 and I-40 is smooth. It’s one of the warmer starts the metro has seen this month.

That warmth holds into Wednesday. Afternoon temperatures again reach the upper 60s, with clouds increasing late in the day. An approaching Pacific system begins nudging moisture into central New Mexico. Rain chances stay low during daylight hours, but conditions begin to change after sunset.

By Wednesday night, isolated showers develop, mainly west and north of Albuquerque. Roads may briefly turn slick, especially in shaded areas. Snow levels remain high, keeping precipitation rain for most valley locations.

Thursday continues the spring tease. Sunshine returns early, pushing highs close to 69 degrees. Clouds thicken late in the day, signaling the next shift. Showers become more likely after dark, and humidity rises noticeably.

Friday brings the most impactful weather of the week. Rain becomes likely, with precipitation chances near 80 percent by afternoon. Wet pavement and reduced visibility could affect the Friday commute across Bernalillo County. While temperatures cool slightly, highs still reach the upper 50s, limiting winter hazards but increasing slick-road risks.

By Friday night, showers linger before tapering. Clearing arrives for the weekend, with Saturday turning sunny and cooler. Highs rebound into the low 60s, keeping outdoor plans in play.

Looking ahead, NOAA’s 6–10 day outlook points to above-normal temperatures continuing into early next week. Signs of a late-winter thaw are building across New Mexico.
