Florida – Headlights glow through thick gray mist across North Florida as fog settles low over roads and neighborhoods. Visibility drops quickly before sunrise, turning the early commute cautious and slow around Tallahassee.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread fog lingers through the early morning hours before lifting by midmorning. Visibility falls below two miles in spots, especially near low-lying roads and wooded areas. Drivers along Capital Circle, Monroe Street, and stretches of U.S. 27 should allow extra time until conditions improve.

Once the fog breaks, sunshine takes control. Temperatures climb steadily into the mid-70s this afternoon with light southwest winds. The air feels mild and springlike for February, a sharp contrast to the cool, damp start near 40 degrees.

Wednesday follows a similar pattern. Patchy fog may redevelop early, then skies brighten with highs pushing toward the mid-70s again. A brief shower cannot be ruled out, but most areas stay dry. Wednesday night turns calm and mild, setting up a pleasant Thursday.

Thursday and Friday bring consistent sunshine and dry air. Afternoon highs hover between 74 and 75 degrees, while nights stay comfortable in the low 50s. Conditions look ideal heading into Valentine’s Day weekend, with Saturday reaching the low 70s under partly sunny skies.

Late in the weekend, clouds increase and rain chances slowly return. By Sunday, scattered showers become more likely as winds turn breezy, hinting at a pattern shift. Still, temperatures remain above normal for mid-February.

Looking ahead, NOAA’s 6–10 day outlook favors continued above-normal temperatures across Florida into late next week. While much of the country deals with winter weather, North Florida leans fully into a February thaw.

Use caution in fog this morning, then enjoy the sunshine later today. Noticing thick fog where you are? Share what conditions look like nearby.
