New Hampshire – Light flakes drift through the cold air today, barely visible at first, then steady enough to coat windshields and sidewalks. Road noise dulls as snow begins to stick, signaling a slow and slippery stretch ahead.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from late afternoon through early Wednesday. Snow totals between 2 and 4 inches are expected across much of central, southern, and northern New Hampshire, including Manchester, Nashua, Concord, and Portsmouth. Snow showers increase after sunset, with the steadiest accumulation expected through the evening and early-morning travel window.

Temperatures stay cold, hovering in the upper teens to near 20 degrees overnight. That allows snow to accumulate quickly on untreated roads. Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate on I-93, Route 101, and local roadways as snowfall rates briefly increase. Visibility may drop during heavier bursts, especially in higher terrain.

By Wednesday, skies brighten and temperatures rebound into the upper 30s. Melting begins quickly under sunshine, but runoff refreezes after dark as temperatures dip back into the teens. This creates a heightened flash-freeze risk Wednesday night, even where pavement looks wet earlier in the day.

Thursday and Friday stay quiet and seasonably cold, with highs in the low to mid-30s. Attention then shifts toward the weekend. Saturday looks dry with highs near 35, while Sunday brings a renewed chance for snow, signaling that winter remains active despite a broader warming trend developing late next week.

Looking ahead, NOAA’s 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures building across New England. Even so, snow-covered ground and frozen lakes can still support fast-moving winter systems.

Slow down on snow-covered roads, plan extra time for early travel, and stay alert for icy patches after dark. How much snow are you seeing where you live?
