Cleveland, Ohio – A generally quiet stretch of weather is expected across northern Ohio over the next several days, with the main highlight being a warm-up on Tuesday before colder conditions and limited snow chances return midweek.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Cleveland, increasing cloud cover today will give way to milder air on Tuesday, when much of the region is expected to reach the upper 30s to mid-40s for afternoon highs. These temperatures are above normal for early February and will support favorable travel conditions along Interstate 90, I-77, and I-480.
Tuesday’s warmer weather will be short-lived. Cooler air moves back into the region Tuesday night into Wednesday, dropping daytime highs back into the upper 20s to low 30s. With the return of colder air over Lake Erie, forecasters say a few lake-effect snow showers are possible Wednesday, mainly impacting areas east of Cleveland including Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties.
Any snow accumulation is expected to be light, but brief reductions in visibility are possible along I-90 east of Cleveland and secondary routes closer to the lakeshore. Drivers should remain alert during early morning and evening travel periods where slick spots could develop.
Thursday and Friday are forecast to remain mostly quiet, with mostly cloudy skies and seasonable temperatures. Highs are expected to range from the mid-20s to low 30s, with overnight lows dropping into the teens. No significant storms are expected during this period.
Commuters, students, and young workers traveling Tuesday should take advantage of the brief warm-up, while those traveling midweek should plan for colder temperatures and occasional snow showers east of Cleveland.
The National Weather Service advises monitoring updated forecasts, especially for lake-effect trends Wednesday, as small shifts in wind direction could change where snow showers develop.
