Raleigh, North Carolina – A notable warming trend is underway across central North Carolina, with temperatures climbing sharply from recent cold levels and reaching the 60s by Tuesday, offering a brief taste of spring-like weather.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, highs on Monday will range from the upper 30s to upper 40s, roughly 5 to 10 degrees warmer than Sunday, under partly cloudy skies. While still cool, the gradual warming will help improve travel conditions during the day, particularly along major corridors such as Interstate 40, Interstate 440, and U.S. Highway 1.

The most significant change arrives Tuesday, when mostly sunny skies are expected to push high temperatures into the low to mid-60s across the entire region, including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, and Rocky Mount. This represents a temperature swing of nearly 20 degrees in some locations within 24 to 36 hours.

Overnight lows tonight will fall into the upper 20s to low 30s, meaning drivers may still encounter cold conditions early Monday morning. However, widespread freezing issues are not expected during the daytime hours as temperatures steadily rise.

Forecasters note that the warmer weather should aid in drying roads and improving overall travel conditions, especially during afternoon commutes. The mild conditions may be especially noticeable for commuters, students, and outdoor workers, as winter coats may no longer be necessary by Tuesday afternoon.

No significant precipitation is expected during the warmup, allowing for continued dry conditions across central North Carolina. While the warmer air will be welcomed by many, residents are advised to remain aware of changing forecasts later in the week as temperatures may fluctuate again.

For now, the NWS encourages residents to enjoy the brief warm spell and stay updated on daily forecasts as the pattern evolves.
