Albany, NY – Bitter cold conditions are expected across eastern New York and western New England on Monday, with temperatures struggling to warm despite full sunshine.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, morning temperatures will be sharply cold across the entire region. Afternoon highs are forecast to reach only the mid-teens to mid-20s, even under sunny skies. The cold air will remain noticeable throughout the day, particularly in areas with lingering snow cover.

Forecast highs Monday are expected to range from 15 to 25 degrees, while temperatures tonight are projected to fall back into the single digits and below zero, with overnight lows between -2 and 8 degrees. Partly cloudy skies are expected overnight, allowing temperatures to drop efficiently.

Roadways including I-87, I-90, I-88, and I-787 may experience slick spots early Monday morning due to lingering cold pavement temperatures, especially on bridges and elevated surfaces. While no widespread precipitation is expected Monday, drivers should remain cautious during the morning commute.

After another cold night, temperatures are expected to moderate on Tuesday, with forecast highs rising into the mid-20s to low 30s. Cloud cover will increase during the day, and the National Weather Service notes that light snow is possible later Tuesday afternoon or evening across many areas.

No snowfall amounts were specified in the update, but even light snow could impact travel during the late-day commute if it develops as expected.

Students, commuters, and outdoor workers may notice the sharp contrast between cold mornings and modest afternoon warming over the next two days. Residents are encouraged to dress in layers and monitor updated forecasts as conditions evolve.
