Duluth, Minnesota – Periods of light precipitation are expected to continue across northeastern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin today and again Monday, with a wintry mix creating the potential for isolated slick spots, according to the National Weather Service in Duluth.

The National Weather Service said there are slight chances for light wintry mix today, followed by another round on Monday. Precipitation amounts are expected to remain light, as probabilities are low and conditions favor drier outcomes overall.

Forecasters noted that, similar to recent days, precipitation may occur in areas where temperatures are cold enough for light snow or mixed precipitation. While widespread accumulation is not anticipated, a trace of snow or ice could develop in localized areas.

According to the weather service, Monday will be somewhat warmer, allowing precipitation to change to rain in some areas, particularly at lower elevations. However, precipitation could switch back to a wintry mix during the evening as temperatures cool again.

Drivers traveling along Interstate 35, U.S. Highway 53, Minnesota Highway 61, and nearby roadways should be prepared for occasional slick spots where wintry mix accumulates, especially during early morning or evening hours.

Communities including Duluth, Cloquet, Two Harbors, Silver Bay, and areas of northwest Wisconsin may experience brief impacts despite the light nature of the precipitation. Bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads are most likely to be affected.

For commuters, students, and service workers, travel conditions may change quickly during periods of mixed precipitation, even if overall impacts remain limited.

The National Weather Service emphasized that this is not a major winter storm, but residents should remain aware of changing road conditions through Monday.

Additional updates will be issued by the National Weather Service Duluth office as precipitation chances evolve.
