Greenville, South Carolina – Cool and dry conditions are settling across the Upstate Sunday, with cold overnight temperatures expected to return by nightfall, according to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg.

The National Weather Service reported that Sunday will remain dry with lighter winds as cloud cover gradually increases through the afternoon. High temperatures across Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and surrounding communities are expected to reach the upper 40s to low 50s, including areas near Interstate 85, Interstate 26, and Interstate 385.

By Sunday night, skies are forecast to clear, allowing temperatures to drop sharply. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the mid-20s to near 30 degrees across much of the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia. Colder readings are anticipated in rural and higher-elevation locations, while urban corridors near major roadways may remain slightly warmer.

According to the weather service, the combination of clearing skies and calm winds will allow cold air to settle quickly after sunset. Motorists traveling overnight or early Monday morning along I-85, I-26, and connecting highways should be prepared for cold conditions, particularly during early commute hours.

While no precipitation or winter weather hazards were indicated in the update, the cold temperatures may impact sensitive plants, outdoor pets, and exposed pipes. Residents are encouraged to take routine cold-weather precautions ahead of the overnight drop.

For students and young workers with early Monday schedules, the colder morning conditions could be a noticeable change following the milder afternoon temperatures on Sunday.

The National Weather Service emphasized that conditions remain dry, with no rain or snow expected during this period. Updates will continue to be shared through official NWS Greenville-Spartanburg channels as conditions evolve.
