Colorado – Bright sun and dry air greet the Front Range early, but the calm feel won’t last long. Temperatures surge quickly today, climbing toward 69 degrees by afternoon as southwest winds increase across Denver and Boulder.

According to the National Weather Service, low humidity and gusty winds will elevate fire danger on the plains Monday, especially near the Wyoming border. While no formal warnings are posted yet, conditions favor rapid fire spread where fuels remain dry.

This warm February stretch brings sharp contrasts. Morning temperatures start near freezing, then jump more than 30 degrees by midafternoon. Drivers may notice strong crosswinds on I-25, I-70, and U.S. 36, especially during the afternoon commute. Secure loose items and use caution with outdoor burning.

Monday stays unusually mild, again nearing 69 degrees, before changes arrive Tuesday. Highs dip into the mid-50s as winds turn breezy. Clouds increase through the day, signaling an approaching pattern shift. By Tuesday night, colder air slides in, dropping lows near freezing.

Midweek brings the biggest transition. Wednesday remains mild during the day, but moisture increases by evening. Light rain becomes possible Wednesday night, with wet roads developing after sunset. By Thursday, scattered rain spreads across the urban corridor, and cooler air lingers.

While snow chances stay limited for Denver itself, higher elevations west of Boulder may see accumulating snow later in the week. Even on the plains, nighttime temperatures near freezing raise the risk of slick spots if rain lingers after dark.

Looking ahead into the 6–10 day window, temperatures trend above normal again late week into next weekend. Winter is not finished, but springlike warmth keeps returning in waves.
