Springfield, Missouri — Unseasonably warm temperatures are settling in across the Missouri Ozarks early this week, with highs climbing well above normal before rain chances increase midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, ensemble forecasts indicate temperatures running 8 to 10 degrees above normal through at least Tuesday. Highs today are expected to range from 55 to 68 degrees, followed by even warmer conditions Monday, when afternoon temperatures climb into the mid-60s to mid-70s across much of the region.

Tuesday remains warm, with highs forecast between 61 and 72 degrees, before a shift toward more unsettled weather begins Tuesday night. Rain chances increase late Tuesday into Wednesday and Thursday, as several disturbances move through the region. While rainfall amounts are uncertain, multiple rounds of light to moderate rain are possible through Thursday night.

Travel conditions along major corridors such as Interstate 44 through Springfield, U.S. Highway 65 near Branson, and Interstate 49 near Joplin are expected to remain dry and favorable through Tuesday afternoon. Wet roadways may develop at times midweek as rain chances increase, particularly during overnight and early-morning hours.

Despite the midweek rain potential, temperatures are expected to remain relatively mild. Highs Wednesday and Thursday are forecast in the low 50s to mid-60s, with overnight lows generally in the 30s to low 40s.

Looking ahead to the February 15–21 period, climate outlooks show a 68 percent probability of above-normal temperatures across the Missouri Ozarks, reinforcing expectations that winter cold will remain limited.

The forecast is especially relevant for commuters, outdoor workers, and students, as the early-week warmth may feel springlike before conditions turn wetter later in the week.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for rain timing and remain cautious during periods of wet travel along I-44 and US-65.
