Chicago, Illinois — A stretch of generally quiet weather is expected across northeastern Illinois this week, with temperatures gradually warming into the 40s by Tuesday before potential changes arrive later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, today will remain seasonably cool, with highs ranging from 27 to 36 degrees. Temperatures begin to rebound on Monday, climbing into the mid-30s to mid-40s, followed by the warmest day of the week on Tuesday, when highs are forecast between 40 and 49 degrees.

The warming trend will be noticeable along major travel corridors including Interstate 90 and Interstate 94 through Chicago, Interstate 88 near Aurora and Naperville, and Interstate 80 near Joliet, where dry and tranquil conditions are expected through midweek. Overnight lows will remain cold, generally in the teens to upper 20s, allowing for refreezing on untreated surfaces during the early morning hours.

By Wednesday, temperatures dip slightly, with highs ranging from 34 to 43 degrees, followed by similar conditions on Thursday, when highs are expected between 33 and 41 degrees. While much of the week remains calm, forecasters note the potential for some inclement weather toward the end of the week, though specific details remain uncertain at this time.

Cloud cover will vary day to day, but no significant precipitation is expected through at least midweek. Any late-week weather system could bring a mix of precipitation types, depending on temperature trends.

The forecast is especially relevant for commuters, students, and outdoor workers, as improving afternoon temperatures will make conditions more comfortable compared to recent cold spells, though mornings will still feel winterlike.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for late-week changes and continue using caution during early-morning travel along I-90, I-94, and I-294.
