Peoria, Illinois – After a cooler weekend, a noticeable warm-up is expected across central Illinois early next week, bringing a brief taste of spring to the region.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service Central Illinois, temperatures will begin climbing Monday as milder air moves into the area. Highs are expected to reach the low to mid-50s on Monday, followed by even warmer conditions Tuesday, when some locations may see highs approaching or exceeding 60 degrees.

The warmest temperatures are expected along major travel corridors including Interstate 74, Interstate 55, Interstate 39, and Interstate 72. Normal highs for this time of year are typically much cooler, making the early-week warmth stand out across the region.

While the weekend will remain on the colder side, with highs generally in the upper 20s to low 40s, the warming trend will be noticeable as the new workweek begins. Overnight lows will also moderate, reducing the risk of icy conditions during the morning commute.

Forecasters say light rain is expected to overspread the area Tuesday night, lingering into early Wednesday morning. Rainfall amounts are expected to remain light, but damp roads may impact early-morning travel, especially in urban areas and along busier highways.

By Wednesday, temperatures are forecast to cool slightly, with highs settling back into the mid-40s. Despite the cooldown, conditions will remain milder than recent weeks.

The warm-up may benefit commuters, students, and outdoor workers, particularly during daytime hours. However, drivers should remain alert for changing conditions as temperatures fluctuate and rain moves through.

Residents are encouraged to monitor official National Weather Service updates for timing adjustments and additional details as the early-week weather pattern evolves.
