Little Rock, Arkansas – A noticeable cooldown is affecting Arkansas today as east to northeasterly winds bring significantly cooler temperatures compared to Friday’s warmth.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Little Rock, highs today will range from the mid-40s across northeast Arkansas to the lower 60s in southwest portions of the state. These readings are approximately 20 to 25 degrees cooler than temperatures observed Friday, marking a sharp but brief change in conditions.
Central Arkansas, including areas along Interstate 40, Interstate 30, U.S. Highway 67, and surrounding corridors, can expect afternoon highs in the lower to mid-50s under partly cloudy to mostly clear skies. Breezy conditions may add a cooler feel, especially during the morning and early afternoon hours.
The National Weather Service notes that the cooldown is being driven by a shift in wind direction behind a passing weather system. Despite the cooler temperatures, dry conditions are expected today, and no precipitation is anticipated.
Temperatures are forecast to begin warming again on Sunday as winds shift and a more spring-like pattern returns. Highs Sunday will climb above average for early February, with continued warming expected into early next week.
By Monday and Tuesday, much of Arkansas could see temperatures well above seasonal norms, improving outdoor conditions and travel comfort across major highways and rural routes. Overnight lows will also trend upward, reducing the risk of early-morning chill.
The brief cooldown may affect outdoor plans today, particularly for those traveling or working outside along exposed roadways. However, conditions are expected to remain favorable overall, with clear skies and dry roads.
Residents are encouraged to dress for cooler conditions today and stay informed through official National Weather Service updates as the warming trend resumes Sunday.
