BOISE, Idaho — Idaho is expected to see a modest temperature rebound around Valentine’s Day, though winter conditions will remain firmly in place statewide through Feb. 20, with periodic chances for snow and continued cold, particularly in higher elevations.

In southern Idaho, including the Boise area, daytime highs are forecast to rise into the low to mid-30s on Friday and Saturday. While this marks a slight warmup compared to recent colder stretches, overnight lows will continue to dip into the teens and lower 20s, allowing for refreezing on roadways after sunset.

Central and northern Idaho will remain colder, with highs generally in the teens and 20s and overnight lows falling into the single digits. Mountain regions will see the coldest conditions, along with the most consistent chances for snowfall as weak disturbances pass through the region.

Snow chances statewide appear intermittent rather than continuous, with light accumulations possible at times. While widespread heavy snowfall is not anticipated, localized impacts could occur, especially in mountain passes and along higher terrain where travel conditions can deteriorate quickly.

Wind may also contribute to hazardous conditions, particularly in open areas and along ridgelines, where gusts could produce blowing snow and reduced visibility. Wind chills may drop below zero overnight in colder regions, increasing the risk of frostbite during extended outdoor exposure.

Looking toward early next week, temperatures are expected to level off near seasonal norms, with no prolonged warmup in sight. Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts closely and plan for continued winter travel conditions through the Valentine’s Day weekend and into the following week.
