CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Wyoming will experience a modest temperature rebound around Valentine’s Day, but winter conditions are expected to persist statewide through Feb. 20, with periodic chances for snow and continued cold nights.
Daytime highs across southeastern Wyoming, including Cheyenne, are forecast to rise into the low to mid-30s on Friday and Saturday. While this marks a noticeable improvement from recent colder stretches, temperatures will remain near seasonal averages. Central and northern portions of the state are likely to stay colder, with highs generally in the 20s.
Overnight lows will continue to fall into the single digits and teens, maintaining the risk for icy roads and refreezing after sunset. A series of weak disturbances moving through the region may bring intermittent snow chances, particularly over higher elevations and along wind-prone corridors. Snow accumulations are expected to be light overall, but even minor snowfall could affect travel.
Winds will remain a key factor throughout the period. Gusty conditions are expected at times, especially across open plains and mountain passes, leading to areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility. Wind chills could drop below zero during overnight and early morning hours.
Looking ahead to early next week, temperatures are expected to level off rather than trend warmer. Highs should remain near or slightly below freezing, reinforcing a prolonged winter pattern.
Residents are advised to monitor forecast updates, particularly if traveling, as fluctuating temperatures and passing snow systems may create variable road conditions during the Valentine’s Day weekend and into the following week.
