MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Wisconsin is expected to see a brief moderation in temperatures around Valentine’s Day, though winter conditions will remain firmly in place as snow chances persist across the state from Feb. 14 through Feb. 20.
High temperatures on Valentine’s Day are forecast to climb into the low to mid-30s across southeastern Wisconsin, including Milwaukee, while northern and central parts of the state remain closer to the freezing mark. Overnight lows are expected to drop into the teens and 20s statewide, allowing snow to remain the dominant precipitation type despite the daytime warmup.
Forecast models indicate an active but disorganized weather pattern, favoring periodic chances for light snow rather than a widespread, high-impact winter storm. Snow showers may develop at times through the weekend and into next week, with lake-enhanced snowfall possible near Lake Michigan when winds align favorably. Minor accumulations are possible with each passing system, particularly overnight.
Southern Wisconsin may see occasional rain or a rain-snow mix during the warmest parts of the day, especially closer to Valentine’s Day, but colder air is expected to quickly return behind each system. This pattern increases the risk of icy conditions on roads, sidewalks and untreated surfaces, especially during the morning and evening hours.
Temperatures are expected to remain near seasonal averages through the end of the forecast period, with no prolonged thaw anticipated. Residents planning travel or outdoor activities during the Valentine’s Day weekend and the days that follow should monitor updated forecasts, as small temperature changes could influence snowfall amounts and travel conditions between Feb. 14 and Feb. 20.
