Joliet, Illinois — A routine early-morning traffic stop in Joliet has led to the arrest of a Plainfield man facing multiple charges, including felony Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities report that on February 5, 2026, just before 3:00 a.m., a Will County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a vehicle traveling with expired Illinois registration, speeding, and committing lane violations. The traffic stop occurred within the city of Joliet.

During the stop, the deputy reported detecting the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver, later identified as 66-year-old Ronald Uccardi of Plainfield. Uccardi agreed to participate in a Standardized Field Sobriety Test, which investigators said raised concerns of possible impairment.

Following further investigation at the scene, Uccardi was taken into custody. Authorities later confirmed that this incident marked Uccardi’s fourth arrest for DUI, elevating the current charges to the felony level under Illinois law.

Uccardi was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, where he was processed. Officials indicated that he has been assigned a court date later this month to answer to the charges.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that traffic enforcement efforts are intended to identify and remove potentially impaired drivers from roadways to help reduce the risk of injury or death to the public.
