Joliet, Illinois — A Joliet man has been arrested and charged following a yearlong investigation into the possession and dissemination of child sexual abuse material, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, February 6, 2026, Will County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested 24-year-old Charles Caples of Joliet. Caples has been charged with three counts of Class X felony Dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and four counts of Class 2 felony Possession of CSAM.

Authorities said the investigation began on January 30, 2025, after detectives received a CyberTip reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip involved a Snapchat message dated January 3, 2025, which led investigators to pursue the case.

Over the course of the investigation, detectives executed multiple search warrants and subpoenas. On December 18, 2025, law enforcement obtained a search warrant for Caples’ residence and seized several electronic devices. A forensic analysis of those devices reportedly uncovered multiple videos and images identified as child sexual abuse material.

An arrest warrant was issued on February 5, 2026, and Caples was taken into custody without incident the following morning at his residence. He is currently being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility without bond while awaiting a court hearing.
