Cincinnati, Ohio – Drivers across the Ohio Valley should prepare for slick roads and slower travel Friday as accumulating snow moves in early and lingers through the evening commute, affecting a large portion of Ohio and nearby states.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday for much of central, southwest, and west-central Ohio, along with portions of southeast Indiana and northern Kentucky. Snow accumulations up to two inches are expected, with isolated areas seeing slightly higher totals.

In Ohio, impacts will stretch from the Dayton and Columbus metro areas south through Cincinnati and Chillicothe, including I-71, I-75, and I-74 corridors. Communities such as Dayton, Springfield, Newark, Hamilton, Middletown, Xenia, Wilmington, and Downtown Cincinnati could see snow-covered roads during the morning drive, with conditions redeveloping again late in the day as temperatures remain cold. In northern Kentucky, travel issues are possible around Covington, Florence, Maysville, and Williamstown, while southeastern Indiana cities like Richmond, Connersville, and Lawrenceburg are also included.

Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and avoid unnecessary travel during heavier snow. Road conditions can be monitored through ohgo.com in Ohio, 511in.org in Indiana, and goky.ky.gov in Kentucky.

The advisory is set to expire Friday evening, but additional statements could be issued if snow bands become more persistent.
