Huntsville, Alabama – A sharp temperature swing is expected through the weekend in Huntsville, beginning with cold conditions today and warming into the 60s by Sunday.

According to a 4 a.m. Facebook update from the National Weather Service in Huntsville, no rain is forecast, but residents should expect a “temperature rollercoaster” across northern Alabama and the Tennessee Valley. High temperatures today are expected to range from 36 to 44 degrees, with morning lows between 24 and 30 degrees.

Cold conditions may be most noticeable for commuters traveling along Interstate 565, Memorial Parkway (US-231), and US-72 during the morning and evening hours. Despite the chill, road conditions are expected to remain dry, with rain chances listed at zero percent throughout the forecast period.

Temperatures will rise significantly on Friday, with highs forecast between 51 and 60 degrees. Overnight lows Friday night are expected to vary widely, ranging from the upper 20s to low 50s depending on location. A brief cooldown follows Saturday, when highs are expected to fall back into the upper 40s to near 50 degrees, with lows dipping into the low to mid-20s.

By Sunday, warmer air returns, pushing afternoon highs back into the low to mid-60s. Overnight lows Sunday night are forecast to range from 34 to 47 degrees.

The National Weather Service emphasized that while temperatures will fluctuate, dry weather is expected throughout the period. The changing conditions may impact outdoor events, construction schedules, and daily commute comfort, particularly for students and young workers traveling early in the morning.
