Little Rock, Arkansas – Much of Arkansas will wake up to freezing temperatures Thursday morning as another cold start settles across the state, followed by a noticeable afternoon warm-up under dry conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, morning lows will range from the lower to mid-20s across northern and central Arkansas, with slightly warmer readings near 30 degrees in parts of western sections. Little Rock is expected to bottom out near 24 degrees, while Harrison, Mountain View, Searcy, and Jonesboro fall closer to 23 degrees.
Western Arkansas communities including Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Russellville, and Mena are forecast to see lows in the mid to upper 20s. These temperatures could lead to patchy frost and slick spots on bridges and overpasses during the early morning commute.
Temperatures will recover steadily through the day as sunshine and dry air move in. Afternoon highs are expected to reach the lower 50s around Little Rock, with upper 50s likely in Fort Smith and Fayetteville. Eastern Arkansas will remain cooler, with highs near 43 in Jonesboro and West Memphis.
Residents should take precautions to protect sensitive plants, pets, and exposed pipes overnight. Dry weather is expected to continue through the next several days, with no precipitation currently anticipated. Additional updates may be issued if colder temperatures persist.
