Pueblo, Colorado – After a slightly cooler start to midweek, warmer and drier conditions are expected to settle across southern Colorado through the upcoming weekend, improving travel and outdoor conditions along major highways.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, temperatures today will run a bit cooler than recent days, with highs mainly in the 40s and lower 50s across the plains and valleys. Beginning Thursday, a warming trend takes hold, with highs climbing into the 50s and 60s across much of the region, and some lower-elevation plains locations potentially approaching 70 degrees by the weekend.
The warmer conditions will be accompanied by mostly dry weather, limiting precipitation-related travel issues. Major corridors including Interstate 25, U.S. Highway 50, U.S. Highway 160, and U.S. Highway 285 are expected to see favorable driving conditions through at least Sunday, particularly during daytime hours.
Mountain areas will remain cooler, though temperatures there are also forecast to trend upward. Snowpack melt and freeze cycles could lead to isolated slick spots during early morning hours near higher-elevation roadways, but widespread impacts are not anticipated.
Forecasters note that the extended dry pattern may contribute to increased fire weather awareness later this month, though no critical fire conditions are expected during this period. Winds are forecast to remain generally light to moderate, further supporting stable travel conditions.
The warming trend may be especially noticeable for commuters, students, and outdoor workers traveling along I-25 between Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Trinidad, as well as for weekend traffic on east-west routes such as U.S. 50.
No watches or warnings are currently in effect related to this forecast. The National Weather Service advises residents to continue monitoring updates, particularly if travel plans extend into higher terrain where conditions can change more quickly.
This outlook is based on forecast guidance issued Wednesday afternoon and reflects expected conditions through the weekend across southern Colorado.
