Cleveland, OH – Light snow will continue across Northeast Ohio and parts of Northwest Pennsylvania this evening as a weak cold front moves south off Lake Erie.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, snow is most likely across the snowbelt regions, where localized accumulations of up to one inch are possible through the evening hours. Areas farther west and south may see lighter totals, generally a trace to a half inch.
The snow is expected to persist into the early evening, with the greatest potential for accumulation from eastern Cuyahoga County through Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, and inland portions of Erie County, Pennsylvania. As temperatures fall after sunset, untreated roads may become slick.
Major travel corridors that could be affected include I-90 along the Lake Erie shoreline, I-271 through eastern suburbs, I-480, I-76 near Akron, and I-80 farther south toward Youngstown and the Ohio–Pennsylvania line. Bridges, overpasses, and secondary roads are expected to be the most vulnerable to icy spots.
While snowfall amounts are expected to remain light, the timing coincides with the evening commute, increasing the potential for minor travel disruptions. Visibility may briefly be reduced in heavier snow showers, particularly within the snowbelt.
The National Weather Service advises drivers to reduce speed, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time this evening. Road conditions may change quickly as daylight fades and pavement temperatures cool.
Snow is expected to taper off later tonight as the cold front continues south and drier air moves into the region. No significant additional accumulation is expected overnight.
Commuters, students, and evening travelers should remain alert for slick conditions and monitor local road reports before heading out.
Residents are encouraged to continue following updates from the National Weather Service Cleveland office for any changes in timing or impacts as the system exits the area.
