Wilmington, Ohio – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect today for a large portion of the Ohio Valley, where accumulating snow is expected to create slippery travel conditions from morning through the evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service office in Wilmington, the advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST Tuesday. Snowfall totals are forecast to range between 1 and 3 inches, with locally higher amounts possible in heavier snow bands.

The advisory includes portions of southeast Indiana, northeast and northern Kentucky, and central, south central, and southwest Ohio. Affected communities include Cincinnati, Dayton, Hamilton, Middletown, Chillicothe, Wilmington, Portsmouth, Georgetown, Maysville, Florence, Covington, Lawrenceburg, Batesville, and Rising Sun, among many others across the region.

Snow is expected to begin this morning and continue intermittently through the day and evening. Forecasters note that both the Tuesday morning and evening commutes are likely to be impacted as snow accumulates on roadways. Untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses are especially susceptible to becoming slick.

Travel impacts may include reduced traction, slower speeds, and longer stopping distances. While snowfall rates are not expected to be extreme, even modest accumulations can lead to hazardous conditions during peak travel periods.

The National Weather Service urges motorists to slow down and use caution while traveling. Drivers are encouraged to check local road conditions before heading out. Road information is available at 511in.org for Indiana, goky.ky.gov for Kentucky, and ohgo.com for Ohio.

Snow is expected to taper off later this evening, with conditions gradually improving overnight. However, lingering slick spots may persist into early Wednesday morning.
