Washington – Headlights disappear into a gray wall this morning across Spokane, as dense fog blankets streets, neighborhoods, and highways. Visibility drops quickly, creating hazardous driving conditions during the early commute.

The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for the Spokane area until 10 a.m., with visibility reduced to one-quarter mile or less in many locations. Fog is thickest across Spokane Valley, Downtown Spokane, Airway Heights, Cheney, Davenport, Fairfield, and Rockford.

Moist air remains trapped near the surface under calm winds, allowing fog to persist through mid-morning. Drivers should expect sudden visibility drops, especially near river corridors, open fields, and low-lying roadways.

Travel along I-90, U.S. Route 2, and U.S. Route 395 may become especially dangerous during peak morning hours. Slow down, increase following distance, and use headlights—not high beams—to improve visibility. Conditions may deteriorate quickly in shaded stretches.

As fog gradually lifts late this morning, clouds remain dominant. Afternoon temperatures climb into the upper 40s, offering little warmth but improved visibility. Roads dry out, easing travel conditions by midday.

Tonight brings another round of patchy fog as temperatures dip into the mid-30s. Wednesday follows a similar pattern, with fog early before partial sunshine pushes highs near 51 degrees. Calm winds keep mornings chilly and damp.

Thursday shows gradual improvement. Fog becomes more limited, with brighter breaks of sunshine by afternoon. Highs stay near 51, keeping conditions seasonable for early February.

Looking ahead to the Feb 6–8 weekend, rain chances increase Saturday into Sunday. Snow remains confined to higher elevations, though snow levels drop Sunday night. Slick roads may return during evening hours.

Longer-range outlooks still hint at milder-than-normal temperatures returning late next week, signaling a slow shift toward early spring.
