A noticeable warmup is expected across southwest Missouri later this week and into mid-February, bringing above-average temperatures and generally favorable travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service Springfield, Missouri, signals strongly favor above-normal temperatures during the February 10 through 16 period. Average high temperatures for this time of year typically range from 44 to 50 degrees, but forecast trends suggest highs may frequently exceed those values across the region.
In the short term, cooler temperatures return Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs ranging from the mid-30s to low 40s. A low chance of drizzle or flurries is possible early Tuesday, but no significant accumulation is expected. Road conditions along Interstate 44, U.S. 65, and Missouri Route 13 are expected to remain largely unaffected.
By Thursday, temperatures begin to climb, with highs forecast in the mid-40s to low 50s. The warming trend continues into Friday and Saturday, when highs may reach the mid-50s to mid-60s, especially across southern portions of the Missouri Ozarks. Overnight lows will also moderate, reducing the risk of refreeze on area roadways.
The Climate Prediction Center outlook indicates a 75 percent chance of above-normal temperatures across the Missouri Ozarks during the February 10–16 window. Chances for below-normal temperatures remain low, suggesting a sustained break from persistent winter cold.
Dry conditions are expected to dominate through the weekend, supporting improved travel and outdoor activities. While typical winter weather is still possible later in the month, the upcoming stretch offers a period of relatively mild conditions.
Motorists, commuters, and outdoor workers can expect generally favorable travel along I-44 and surrounding highways, with fewer cold-related hazards compared to recent weeks.
