Dallas, Texas – A wetter, more springlike weather pattern is expected to take hold across Texas beginning Tuesday, February 10, as the 8–14 day outlook points to above-average precipitation and temperatures running warmer than typical mid-February levels through Monday, February 16. The shift favors rain over winter weather and raises concerns for repeated rounds of rainfall across much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, above-average precipitation is favored across large portions of Texas during the February 10–16 period. Temperatures are also expected to trend above seasonal norms, with daytime highs climbing well above freezing statewide and mild overnight conditions reinforcing an early spring feel.

North and Central Texas, including Dallas–Fort Worth, Waco, and Austin, may see multiple rain events during the outlook window. With soils still slow to absorb moisture in some areas, heavier rainfall could lead to ponding on roads and localized flooding, particularly in urban and low-lying locations. Gusty winds and isolated thunderstorms are possible if stronger systems move through.

East Texas, including Tyler, Longview, and Lufkin, is most likely to see higher rainfall totals, increasing the risk for runoff into creeks and rivers. South Texas and the Coastal Plains, including Houston and Corpus Christi, are also expected to remain mild and wet, with periods of steady rain possible.

Drivers are urged to use caution during heavy rain, especially at night, and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Residents should monitor river forecasts and local alerts as the wet pattern develops.

With the mild, rainy setup expected to persist through Monday, February 16, additional flood advisories or weather alerts may be issued as confidence increases heading into next week.
