Providence, Rhode Island – Rhode Island is expected to see a return to more seasonable winter conditions beginning Tuesday, February 10, as the 8–14 day outlook points to increased precipitation and temperatures settling near normal through Monday, February 16. The pattern favors renewed snow chances across the Ocean State as colder air becomes more consistent.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, above-average precipitation is favored across much of New England during the February 10–16 window, including Rhode Island. Temperatures are projected to trend close to mid-February averages, keeping highs and lows near the freezing mark at times. This comes as above-average warmth remains focused across the central United States, leaving southern New England in a more typical winter regime.

The outlook supports multiple chances for light to moderate snow rather than one major storm system. Inland communities, including areas along Routes 6 and 295, may see the best opportunity for accumulating snow. Along the coast, including Providence, Warwick, and Newport, snow remains possible, particularly during overnight and early morning hours when colder air is more likely to hold.

Travel conditions could become variable during this period, especially during commutes. Roads may become slick quickly if snow develops, and refreezing is possible when temperatures dip below freezing. RIDOT crews may need to treat roadways repeatedly if precipitation arrives in several rounds.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed, plan for winter driving conditions, and keep emergency supplies readily available. With the colder, wetter pattern expected to persist through Monday, February 16, additional advisories or snow-related alerts may be issued as the outlook period approaches and confidence increases.
