Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Wall-to-wall sunshine is bringing a noticeable warmup across the Mid-Atlantic on Monday, making it the warmest day for many locations since late January, though winter travel concerns will linger after dark.

According to the National Weather Service in Philadelphia/Mount Holly, high temperatures Monday are expected to reach the upper 20s to lower 30s across eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Coastal and southern areas may briefly touch 32 degrees, while higher elevations remain slightly colder.

Cities including Philadelphia, Trenton, Wilmington, Reading, and Atlantic City are forecast to see highs near or just below freezing. The clear skies and sunshine will help melt lingering snow and ice during the afternoon hours.

Despite the daytime improvement, forecasters caution that travel conditions could deteriorate again tonight as temperatures fall back into the 20s, allowing melted snow and slush to refreeze. Slick spots may redevelop on bridges, overpasses, and shaded roadways, especially along major corridors such as Interstate 95, I-76, I-295, I-78, the New Jersey Turnpike, and the Atlantic City Expressway.

The National Weather Service notes that for many communities, this will be the mildest day since January 23, offering a brief break from recent colder-than-normal conditions. However, the warmth is modest and short-lived, with overnight cold keeping winter hazards in play.

Motorists are encouraged to remain cautious during the evening and overnight hours, even if roads appear wet rather than icy during the afternoon. Pedestrians should also be alert for refreezing on sidewalks, parking lots, and steps.

Students, commuters, and outdoor workers may appreciate the brighter and milder conditions during the day, but should plan ahead for colder temperatures returning after sunset.

Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts and road conditions, especially if traveling late Monday or early Tuesday morning.
