Forecasters indicate that precipitation chances will increase Tuesday afternoon and evening as clouds thicken, before tapering off Wednesday morning. Any wintry precipitation is expected to be light, but could still result in isolated slick spots, particularly on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses.
High temperatures Tuesday are forecast to range from the upper 30s to near 50 degrees, before cooler air moves in overnight. Wednesday highs will remain similar, generally in the upper 30s to upper 40s, with breezy northwest winds at times.
Major travel routes including Interstate 80, US-281, US-81, and US-6 could see brief impacts if light precipitation develops during overnight hours. While no significant accumulation is anticipated, drivers should remain alert for changing conditions, especially during early morning travel Wednesday.
The remainder of the week looks favorable for travel and outdoor activities. Thursday is expected to be the warmest day of the week, with highs reaching the mid-50s to low 60s, followed by continued dry conditions and seasonably mild temperatures into Friday.
Overnight lows through the week will range from the low 20s to low 30s, which could allow any lingering moisture to refreeze during nighttime hours.
