Ohio – Crisp air stings faces this morning as breath hangs visible above dark pavement, and cars roll cautiously through neighborhoods glazed by cold. The chill feels sharper than the thermometer suggests, and for now, winter has full control.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, temperatures early today sit near 5 degrees with wind chills plunging below zero. Single-digit highs struggle to recover, and wind chills near minus 10 remain possible through the morning hours across Clinton County and surrounding areas.

Light flakes drift through the region at times today, leaving spotty slick areas on untreated roads. The bigger change arrives Tuesday, when snow becomes more likely by afternoon. Accumulations of one to three inches are possible around Wilmington, especially along secondary roads and rural routes where treatment is limited.

As arctic air presses back in Tuesday night into Wednesday, melted snow may refreeze quickly. That flash-freeze risk could catch drivers off guard during the Wednesday morning commute, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and shaded stretches of Route 68 and U.S. 22.

Conditions briefly calm Wednesday and Thursday with sunshine, but the cold holds firm. Another round of snow is increasingly possible late Thursday night into Friday, lingering at times through the Feb 6–8 weekend. While totals remain uncertain, repeated light events can steadily worsen travel and parking lots.

Residents should allow extra braking distance, keep phones charged, and dress for exposed skin risks during early mornings. Meteorologists are watching additional advisories as the pattern stays active. Traveling later this week? What are road conditions like where you are?
