Jackson, Kentucky – Little additional measurable snowfall is expected across eastern Kentucky through Saturday evening, with light snow showers and flurries lingering mainly in higher elevations near the Virginia border, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service in Jackson reports that most locations outside of higher terrain should see minimal to no accumulation, with snowfall amounts remaining under one inch. The best chance for light accumulation is confined to elevated areas in counties bordering Virginia, where colder temperatures and upslope flow may allow snow to persist longer.

Forecasters say the snow will be dry and fluffy in nature, limiting overall impacts. Light snow showers and intermittent flurries are expected to continue through tonight, gradually diminishing late this evening. Lower elevations and valley locations are likely to see only brief flurries with little effect on road conditions.

While widespread travel disruptions are not anticipated, localized slick spots remain possible on untreated roads, bridges, and higher-elevation routes, particularly along KY-15, US-23, US-119, KY-80, and US-460. Drivers traveling late tonight or early Sunday morning should remain alert for patchy slick conditions where snow showers linger.

Confidence in snowfall amounts is high, with the National Weather Service emphasizing that the storm system responsible for earlier snow is weakening as it exits the region. No additional winter weather advisories are currently planned for most of eastern Kentucky.

Residents in mountain communities near the Virginia line are advised to monitor conditions closely, especially if traveling overnight. Temperatures will remain cold enough for snow to stick briefly in isolated spots, even where accumulations are minimal.

These conditions may be most noticeable for overnight commuters, early-morning drivers, and those traveling through higher terrain late tonight.
