Florida greets the morning with a rare winter bite as cool air settles over Tampa Bay and breath turns visible before sunrise. Lawns feel stiff, patios sit unused, and jackets suddenly feel necessary.

A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect across coastal sections of west-central Florida through mid-morning, covering Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Bradenton, and nearby communities. According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, early wind chills dipped into the upper 30s, cold enough to create discomfort during prolonged outdoor exposure. Pets and vulnerable populations face increased risk during the coldest hours.

Early temperatures hover in the low 40s near Tampa International Airport, with light northeast winds adding a chill. Bridges and elevated roadways remain dry, but commuters may notice a sharper bite during early drives along I-275 and I-75. Sunshine quickly takes over, helping temperatures rebound into the upper 60s by afternoon.

Milder conditions continue into Friday, with highs pushing into the low 70s under mostly sunny skies. That warmth does not last long. By late Friday night into Saturday, a developing system brings increasing clouds, gusty winds, and a chance for scattered showers. Winds strengthen Saturday afternoon, making it feel cooler despite highs near 60.

Saturday night turns noticeably colder again as north winds usher in another chill. Lows fall into the mid-30s across inland areas, with a brisk feel near the coast. Sunday stays sunny but cool, with highs near the upper 40s and steady northwest winds.

Looking ahead, temperatures slowly recover early next week as high pressure settles in. Even so, winter reminders continue across Florida as Arctic air masses influence the eastern U.S.
