Amarillo, Texas – A noticeable warmup is expected to spread across the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles early next week, signaling a quieter start to February as colder air retreats and storm chances remain limited across the High Plains.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, temperatures across the region are expected to trend near to above normal from Monday through Friday, while precipitation remains close to seasonal averages. This outlook favors fewer winter weather disruptions and longer dry stretches.

Across the Texas Panhandle, the warmer pattern should reduce the frequency of hard freezes that often impact travel and agriculture. In the Oklahoma Panhandle, milder daytime conditions lower the risk of icy roads along key routes such as U.S. 54 and U.S. 412, especially during daylight hours.

In Amarillo, daytime highs are expected to recover from late January levels, improving commute conditions and limiting snow or ice-related slowdowns. Any precipitation that does develop should be light and brief, with no strong signals for accumulating snow or freezing rain.

Residents should still remain alert during overnight and early morning hours when temperatures dip closer to freezing. The National Weather Service notes outlooks will continue to be refined as February unfolds, and additional advisories could be issued if the weather pattern changes.
