Cheyenne, Wyoming – A return to colder conditions is expected across southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle later this week as Arctic air pushes back into the region, following a brief stretch of milder temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, much of the upcoming week will feature near-normal winter conditions, with daytime highs climbing into the 40s and low 50s across several locations. Cheyenne is forecast to reach the upper 40s to low 50s midweek before cooler air arrives.

Forecasters say the Arctic air mass will move closer to the area from Thursday through Saturday, knocking temperatures back down and introducing a few chances for light snow. High temperatures are expected to fall back into the 30s and low 40s late week, particularly across higher elevations and wind-prone areas.

Communities including Cheyenne, Laramie, Scottsbluff, Sidney, and surrounding towns will feel the transition. Motorists traveling along Interstate 25, Interstate 80, U.S. Highway 287, and U.S. Highway 26 should be prepared for changing conditions, especially during overnight and early morning hours if light snow develops.

While winds are expected to be breezy on most days, the National Weather Service notes that current forecasts do not indicate major high-wind events like those experienced earlier this season. Winds are expected to remain more typical for Wyoming and western Nebraska.

After the late-week cooldown, temperatures are forecast to rebound by Sunday, with highs climbing again into the 40s and 50s, reducing lingering winter impacts.

Residents are advised to remain weather-aware, especially those planning travel later this week. Cold-sensitive infrastructure, pets, and livestock should be monitored as temperatures fluctuate.

Students, commuters, and outdoor workers may notice the biggest changes during early morning hours when temperatures dip the lowest.

Forecasters encourage residents to continue checking updated forecasts as timing and intensity of the late-week cold air and light snow chances become clearer.
