Green Bay, Wisconsin – Cold weather remains firmly in place across northeast Wisconsin this week, with temperatures running well below normal and repeated subzero wind chills expected during the morning hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, aside from a few passing flurries, dry conditions are expected through the workweek. The primary concern continues to be the cold, with daytime highs running 10 to 20 degrees below average and subzero wind chill readings likely each morning.
Forecast guidance shows highs generally ranging from the single digits to the teens through Friday, with overnight lows dipping below zero at times. Wind chills will make it feel even colder, particularly during the early morning commute.
Communities affected include Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Marinette, Shawano, and surrounding areas. Motorists traveling along Interstate 43, Interstate 41, U.S. Highway 41, U.S. Highway 141, and State Highway 29 may notice the harshest conditions on open stretches of roadway where winds remain elevated.
While significant snowfall is not expected, the persistent cold can still pose risks to people, pets, and infrastructure. Vehicles may experience reduced battery performance, and prolonged outdoor exposure increases the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
The National Weather Service advises residents to dress in multiple warm layers, limit time outdoors during the coldest periods, and bring pets indoors. Officials also recommend checking on elderly neighbors and ensuring heating systems are functioning properly.
Some relief is expected this weekend as temperatures gradually climb into the 20s, offering a modest break from the bitter cold. Until then, winter conditions will remain a daily concern across northeast Wisconsin.
Students, early-shift workers, and commuters traveling before sunrise may feel the greatest impacts due to repeated subzero wind chills.
Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring updated forecasts as the cold pattern persists through the end of the week.
