Indianapolis, IN – Extreme cold is gripping Central Indiana Monday night with wind chills plunging to -25°F, triggering an Extreme Cold Warning in effect through 9 a.m. Tuesday. Frostbite can set in on exposed skin in as little as 15 minutes, prompting urgent safety warnings for residents across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, dangerously low wind chills will blanket much of central and southern Indiana, including Indianapolis, Lafayette, Muncie, and Bloomington. The coldest conditions are expected between midnight and 9 a.m. Tuesday, with wind chills ranging from -15°F to -25°F across Marion, Monroe, Tippecanoe, and surrounding counties.
