Tallahassee, Florida – Residents across the Tallahassee area may catch a rare winter sight Monday morning as light snow flurries are possible through mid-morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters say a few flurries could occur between now and 9 a.m. ET, with individual bursts lasting 15 to 30 minutes at any given location. The flurries are expected to be brief, light, and non-impactful, producing no accumulation and no travel disruptions.
The chance for flurries extends across southeast Alabama, southwest Georgia, and portions of the Florida Panhandle north of Interstate 10, including the Tallahassee region. Any snowflakes that develop are expected to dissipate quickly as temperatures slowly rise later this morning.
Meteorologists emphasize that while flurries are uncommon for the area, this event poses no safety concerns, and roads are expected to remain unaffected. Visibility impacts, if any, would be short-lived.
The National Weather Service notes that residents who observe flurries are encouraged to share photos or videos, as snowfall of any kind remains a rare occurrence in North Florida.
