Colorado wakes under a brittle, steel-blue sky as breath hangs in the air and car doors creak from the cold. The chill feels sharp enough to slow even routine errands.

Southern Colorado remains locked in a Winter Weather pattern early today, with bitter cold centered along the I-25 corridor. According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect through early morning as wind chills dip as low as 20 degrees below zero. Exposed skin can be affected in minutes, especially before sunrise.

Pueblo sits near 4 degrees this morning, with light winds offering little relief. Side streets and parking lots may turn slick later after daytime melting refreezes. Drivers should slow down and watch shaded intersections, especially near bridges and overpasses.

Light snow redevelops later today across nearby mountains and the Palmer Divide. While Pueblo avoids heavy accumulation, gusty winds and blowing snow could lower visibility on higher terrain and east-facing passes. Conditions improve quickly after sunset as colder air settles in behind the system.

By Tuesday, sunshine strengthens and temperatures rebound into the 40s. The warm-up accelerates midweek, pushing highs into the low 50s by Wednesday and Thursday. That swing raises renewed flash-freeze concerns each night as melted snow refreezes.

Looking ahead, NOAA outlooks suggest drier conditions and falling precipitation chances late week, with much warmer air spreading across the Southeast into early February.

Winter still demands respect this morning, but layers give way to lighter jackets soon. How cold did it feel where you stepped outside today?
